Robert Pattinson avoids all Kristen Stewart chat in first TV interview since cheating

Robert Pattinson has hit screens in the US for his first interview since Kristen Stewart was caught cheating with Rupert Sanders.

Talking to Jon Stewart on The Daily Show - who kept bringing up break-ups - Robert Pattinson squirmed his way through an awkward interview and managed to avoid saying a single word about Kristen Stewart.

In his first public appearance since news of Kristen's fling with director Rupert Sanders surfaced, he smiled when Jon told him to 'kick her to the curb,' yet seemed a little more solemn when the chat later became more serious.

Show host Jon continually made references to K-Stew's affair throughout the live interview, saying: "When you are young and you break up, it's powerful and it feels like the whole world is ending. 

"This is the first time I have seen the world actually react that way."

Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders' affair first came to light when a US magazine published pictures of the pair canoodling and kissing on a secret meet-up in LA.

And last night Robert , who has kept a low-profile since the scandal, was clearly uncomfortable whenever the subject came up -  keeping his hand close to his face and fidgeting in his chair.

Giggling nervously, he then joked and changed the subject with: "I should have talked about Cosmopolis."

Despite the troubles in his personal life, R-Pattz was definitely looking his usual dapper self in a grey suit with navy shirt and black tie.

His Cosmopolis tour has now kicked off - so he's also due to appear on MTV and Good Morning America this week. Edge of your seats? So are we.
